Nephrology Association of Kerala
The Nephrology Association of Kerala began to meet together on regular basis from 1999 onwards, before this, the idea of forming an association was mooted during the annual API meetings. However, the first annual meeting was then held at Kozhikode in the year 1999. Subsequently meetings were held in 2000 and 2001. The meetings were conducted with efficiency and punctuality and scientific discussion were of high quality.
In september 2001 at the meeting in Thrissur, it was decided to form an official organization by the name of the Nephrology Association of Kerala. An adhoc committee consisting of dr. Kasi Viswesaran ( Chairman), Dr. A. Vimala ( Secretary cum treasurer) and Dr. Jacob George, Dr. Beeena Unnikrishnan and Dr. Saroja B Nair was entrusted with this responsibility. The next annual meeting was also organized by this adhoc committee (4th annual conference at Trivandrum, September 2002)
At the General Body meeting held on 21st september 2002 at the 4th Annual Conference of the NAK (at Hotel Mascot in Thiruvananthapuram) the official rules and regulations were laid down and the organization was born. The first Chairman was Dr. Kasi Visweswaran, the Secretary Dr.A. Vimala and the Treasurer Dr. B . Satish.
